The Hands Behind the Craft

Créations Fait Main began in a small workshop in the Marais district of Paris, where a group of artisans discovered they shared more than a postcode. They shared a belief that making things with care and intention matters deeply in a world rushing toward convenience.

What started as informal collaborations and shared studio space evolved into something more purposeful. Today, our collective brings together specialists in textile arts, ceramics, leatherwork, woodcraft, and jewellery-making, each with their own distinct approach but united by common values.

We work slowly, deliberately, and with respect for the materials that pass through our hands. Every creation that leaves our studio carries something of the maker's presence, an invisible thread connecting you to the person who shaped your piece.

What Guides Our Work

These principles shape every decision we make, from material selection to final delivery

Authentic Making

We embrace the imperfections that come with handwork. A slightly uneven edge, a subtle variation in glaze, the gentle asymmetry of hand-stitching. These details remind us that humans, not machines, created this piece.

Material Honesty

We let materials speak in their natural voice. Wood grain shows through our finishes. Leather develops character over time. We enhance rather than disguise the inherent beauty of what we work with.

Considered Process

Rushing produces mediocre work. We take the time each piece needs, whether that means waiting for clay to dry properly or allowing leather to cure before stitching. Quality cannot be hurried.

Our Workshop Philosophy

The physical space where we work matters as much as the techniques we employ. Our studio prioritises natural light, minimal distractions, and an atmosphere that supports focused, contemplative making.

Each artisan maintains their own workstation, equipped with tools they have selected and often modified over years of practice. Some of these tools belonged to previous generations of makers. Others represent the latest in traditional craftsmanship.

We source materials from suppliers we have come to trust through years of relationship. French linen from Normandy. Leather from a family tannery in the Dordogne. Ceramics clay from deposits in the Charente region. Wood from sustainably managed forests in the Vosges.

A note on our approach: We do not claim to be reinventing craft or disrupting traditions. Rather, we see ourselves as participants in a lineage that stretches back centuries. The techniques we use were developed by makers who faced similar challenges, who sought similar satisfactions, who believed as we do that making things well is a worthy pursuit.
