Where It All Began

Harbor Verse started in 2019 when a group of primary school teachers and parents noticed something troubling: children were spending less time outdoors, missing out on the rich learning opportunities that nature provides.

We observed that many families wanted to explore nature with their children but felt unsure where to start. The equipment was scattered across multiple shops, activities required extensive research, and parents worried about making outdoor learning meaningful rather than just pleasant walks.

Our solution was to create comprehensive, thoughtfully designed kits that give families everything they need to turn outdoor time into genuine learning experiences. Each kit combines quality tools with structured activities and open-ended exploration opportunities.

Our Approach to Learning

Each Harbor Verse kit follows a carefully designed educational framework. We begin with observation activities that help children slow down and notice details they might otherwise miss.

From there, activities build towards identification, recording, and eventually understanding broader ecological concepts. A child using the Wildlife Discovery Kit might start by simply watching birds at a feeder, then progress to identifying species, tracking seasonal visitors, and understanding migration patterns.
